Police officers cleared of gross misconduct over 2018 shooting

On 3 May 2024, following a three-week hearing, a disciplinary panel found not proved allegations that two MPS Counter Terrorism Specialist Firearms Officers breached the use of force standard of professional behaviour.

The officers discharged their weapons in the context of an armed robbery of a cash-in-transit van in South Wimbledon on 3 December 2018.

Further details of the case can be found on the MPS and IOPC websites.

Duncan Penny KC and Adam Payter represented MY55 in the disciplinary proceedings and in criminal proceedings which resulted in the CPS offering no evidence.
