Prosecuting the first case in England and Wales of breaching sanctions imposed under the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. The first defendant is a former senior Russian politician who was appointed by President Vladimir Putin as governor of Sevastopal in the Crimea after the Russian invasion in 2014.
