In February 2023, Paul Gadd (better known as Gary Glitter) was automatically released on licence at the halfway point of his sentence for serious sexual offences against children. In March 2023, he was recalled to prison following allegations that he had sought to access the ‘Dark Web’ and had viewed inappropriate material online.
On 7 February 2024, following a private hearing on 24 January 2024, a Panel of the Parole Board refused Mr Gadd’s application to be released on the basis that he posed a continuing risk of serious harm to the public.
