A security guard who plotted to kidnap, rape and murder TV presenter Holly Willoughby has lost a Court of Appeal challenge against his sentence

A security guard who plotted to kidnap, rape and murder TV presenter Holly Willoughby has lost a Court of Appeal challenge against his sentence.

Gavin Plumb was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 16 years (less the time spent on remand) last year after being unanimously convicted of soliciting murder and encouraging or assisting others to rape and kidnap Ms Willoughby.

Dismissing the appeal, Lord Justice Edis, sitting with Mr Justice Spencer and Mrs Justice Norton concluded that the grounds of appeal against sentence were “ultimately unpersuasive.”

Sasha Wass KC represented Mr Plumb.

Alison Morgan KC represented the Crown.
