Andrew started his clerking carrier at 6KBW in 1973 and has not strayed very far since. He was appointed Senior Clerk in 2003 following the retirement of David Garstang. Andrew is a qualified member of The Institute of Barristers Clerks. He has overseen the diversification of chambers from a pure crime set to one with a mixed criminal public law practice. Chambers have also moved from an almost entirely prosecution set to one which boasts some of the best defence lawyers in the country. Andrew leads our “‘dynamic’ clerks’ room” (Legal 500 2020) with chambers being described as “a particularly well-managed set” and Andrew as “a pleasure to work with” (Chambers & Partners 2020).
