Nathaniel Pope and Alicia Watson sentenced for death of Kemarni Watson-Darby

Tony Badenoch QC and Sahil Sinha were instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service to prosecute the murder of 3-year-old Kemarni Watson-Darby. After trial, Kemarni’s mother Alicia Watson was convicted of causing or allowing the death of Kemarni, and her partner Nathaniel Pope was convicted of his murder. On 24 May 2022 Tipples J handed down a sentence of life imprisonment with a minimum term of 24 years to Nathaniel Pope for murder. Alicia Watson was sentenced to 11 years’ imprisonment for causing or allowing his death.
